How Usage Billing Works
Your subscription covers the platform and your agents. Agent compute is pre-paid from a separate balance that you control.
How does usage billing work?
Your subscription covers platform access and your agents. Agent compute (the AI work your agent does each time it acts) is billed separately from a pre-paid balance on your account. You fund the balance, your agent draws against it, and auto-replenish keeps it topped up. This keeps your subscription predictable while usage scales with what your agent actually does.
How do I fund my account?
A card is required at signup. From your dashboard you pick an initial top-up amount (we suggest $50–$200 depending on expected use), and you can add more any time. Auto-replenish is on by default — if your balance runs low, we charge your card for a fixed top-up amount so your agents don't pause.
What uses the balance?
- Outbound messages your agent sends (Telegram, email, and other channels)
- Inbound message processing and reply generation
- Review request campaigns
- Lead follow-up sequences
- Custom workflow triggers
- AI model inference (more complex tasks use more compute)
What if I run out?
Your agent pauses outbound actions until the balance is topped up. If auto-replenish is on, a new charge is initiated and the agent resumes within seconds. If it's off, you'll see an alert on your dashboard and you can top up manually.
Can I set limits?
Yes. You can cap monthly spend per agent, per organization, or both. You can also turn auto-replenish off entirely and only add funds manually. Usage alerts fire at 80% of any cap so nothing sneaks up on you.
Which AI models does Boatwork Assist use?
Frontier models from multiple providers — Claude, GPT, Grok, Mistral, and more. Boatwork Assist routes each task to the best-sized model automatically: simpler work uses lightweight models to stretch your balance, complex reasoning uses premium models where it matters. You can set per-task preferences and fallback chains from your dashboard.
Can I see my usage?
Every plan includes a dashboard with live balance, recent activity, per-agent breakdown, and a monthly usage report. You always know what your balance is and what drew it down.
