Pro Terms
Effective October 14, 2026
What changed: New.
Pro Terms. These Pro Terms apply to Service Providers who accept bookings and payments through Boatwork ("Bookings"). They are part of the Boatwork Terms of Use, which also apply, including Sections 19 and 21. You agree to them when you turn on Bookings or accept a booking.
1. Access. Bookings is available to Service Providers that Boatwork invites or whose Boatwork plan includes it. Boatwork may turn Bookings on or off for any Service Provider at any time. Customers' requests ask for a time; you confirm or decline each request within 24 hours (or before 1 hour before the requested time, if sooner). A request you do not answer in time is declined automatically. You can turn on automatic confirmation, in which case every request that fits your booking times is confirmed and charged right away.
2. You are the seller. You are the seller and merchant of record for every service booked through your storefront. Customers pay your Stripe account directly. You are responsible for your prices, delivering the service, customer service and responding to payment disputes. Boatwork never holds customer funds and is not a party to your sale to the customer.
3. Your refund policy. You choose the refund policy shown on your storefront: Flexible (full refund up to 24 hours before), Firm (full refund up to 3 days before), Case by case (you handle changes and refunds), or your own wording with a refund window you choose. Services where you set the time after payment always allow a full refund until you schedule the work. The policy shown to a customer at checkout governs that booking, even if you change your policy later.
4. Refunds Boatwork issues for you. You appoint Boatwork as your limited agent to refund a customer from your Stripe account, in full, when the customer cancels within the refund policy that governs their booking. Boatwork issues these refunds automatically, without asking you first. This authority covers only those refunds; it does not make Boatwork your agent for anything else. You also agree to honor the refund policy you publish and to respond promptly to refund requests that fall outside it. Boatwork also cancels the card hold, without charge, when a customer withdraws a request, when you decline it, or when it is not confirmed in time, and issues a full refund when a customer cancels a confirmed booking that you moved to a new time.
5. Stripe. Payments are processed by Stripe. To use Bookings you must set up a Stripe account through the onboarding shown on Boatwork and accept the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement. That agreement is between you and Stripe and has its own terms, including its own governing law and dispute terms, which apply to your relationship with Stripe and not to your relationship with Boatwork. Stripe verifies your identity, charges its processing fees to your account and handles payouts, negative balances and dispute debits under that agreement.
6. Boatwork fee. Boatwork charges $5.99 for each paid booking, deducted automatically from the payment when the customer pays. The fee is not returned when a booking is refunded, whether you or Boatwork issues the refund, or when a payment dispute is decided against you. The fee is charged only when a booking is confirmed and the customer's payment is taken; no fee applies to requests that are withdrawn, declined or not confirmed.
7. Taxes. You are responsible for determining, collecting and paying any sales, use or other taxes on the services you sell. Checkout does not add a separate tax line, so your listed prices must account for any tax that applies. Boatwork does not collect or pay taxes on your sales.
8. Prohibited services and conduct. You may not use Bookings to sell services that are illegal, that you are not licensed or insured to perform where a license or insurance is required, or that Stripe does not allow. You may not misrepresent your services, prices or business. Boatwork may turn off Bookings for a Service Provider that breaks these Pro Terms.
9. Customer data. You receive the customer's name, email address, phone number, any note they add, and the booking details. You may use them only to deliver that booking and to communicate with the customer about it. You must protect them and comply with applicable privacy laws, and you may not use them for marketing unless the customer separately agrees.
10. Disputes with customers. Disputes between you and a customer about your work are between you and the customer; Section 19(d) of the Terms of Use applies. You agree to respond promptly to payment disputes, using the tools Boatwork provides or as Stripe requires.
