Red Rock Marina -Belize in Pella, IA: slips, storage, and ramps

Red Rock Marina -Belize in Pella, IA sits on Lake Red Rock and offers slips, fuel, a marine store, dry storage and haul-out for boats up to 45 feet. Public ramps charge $5 per launch or $40 for an annual pass, and Iowa residents must register their boats with the DNR.

What does Red Rock Marina offer boaters near Pella?

On its slips page, the marina lists covered and uncovered slips, pump-out, fuel service, slip-side boat cleaning, year-round dry storage, waverunner float rentals, boat lift rentals and summer trailer storage. Its marine store carries maintenance hardware and supplies, and the fuel dock keeps separate hours from the store. Its Boatwork profile lists marinas and dockage, fuel supply, chandleries, dry storage and repair as specialties.

Which boats can it slip, store or haul?

The marina states slips up to 60 feet, indoor storage for vessels up to 30 feet long and 11 feet wide, and haul-out with a 25-ton hydraulic trailer for boats up to 45 feet. So a boat between 30 and 45 feet can take a slip or a haul-out but not the indoor building. A boat under 30 feet and 11 feet wide fits all three options.

Seasons matter too. Summer slips and storage run April 15 to October 15, and winter storage runs October 16 to April 14. If you want the boat in the water, take a slip. If you want it out of weather and off the lake, take indoor storage if it fits. Indoor storage can be reserved on a seasonal or annual basis on request, so ask which term suits how often you boat.

What about repairs and winterizing?

Haul-out happens on site, but engine and system repairs go through the marina's sister marina, Saylorville Lake Marina, which the marina describes as having a full-service yard and parts department. Winterizing requests start with an inquiry form. Ask who does the work and where the boat will sit while it waits.

What ramps and access points does Lake Red Rock have, and what do they cost?

The Corps of Engineers manages South Overlook, Whitebreast, Marina Cove and Howell Station (river access). The DNR manages two Elk Rock ramps, and the county manages Cordova plus two Roberts Creek ramps that reach only that creek, not the lake.

Corps ramps require a daily fee of $5.00 unless posted otherwise. Marina Cove lists credit cards only, no cash.

Is the $40 annual pass worth it?

Yes, once you launch eight times. Annual passes are sold for $40.00 at the Red Rock Visitor Center on the south side of the dam, and the daily use fee at Corps-managed ramps is $5.00 unless posted otherwise. The arithmetic: $40 divided by $5 per launch equals 8 launches to break even. Marina Cove listed a 2025 season of April 17 to October 20, so a boater launching weekly in that window would pass break-even by early summer. Marina Cove launches are free for annual pass holders.

What boat registration does Iowa require?

Iowa residents using vessels on public water must register with the Iowa DNR. The boat must display current decals and the registration number from the county recorder. Numbers must be at least 3 inches high, bold block letters. Decals go on each side toward the stern, 4 inches from the number.

The operator carries the registration certificate aboard, or a hard card from a county recorder. Registrations renew every three years. Nonresidents may use a boat registered in another state for up to 60 nonconsecutive days.

What lake levels and hazards affect boating?

High water closes ramps at set elevations. South Overlook closes at 760 feet, Whitebreast at 777 feet and Marina Cove at 780 feet. The maximum flood control pool is 780 feet above sea level, so a flood year can shut every lake ramp. Daily lake level and dam outflow are posted at rivergages.com, or you can call 641-828-7522 or 641-628-8690. Howell Station sits on the river below the dam, so outflow matters there.

How much does a slip cost and what drives it?

Length, covered versus uncovered, season and extras such as lift rental or trailer storage drive slip pricing. As of November 2026, the marina's pages show no published rates, so request a written quote for your boat's length and beam. The earlier post on renting a slip at Charles Mill Marina covers slip-lease questions in general.

What should you ask before booking?

As of November 2026, Boatwork's marketplace data shows one other open, listed business with the marinas and dockage specialty in Pella and four in Iowa. You can browse the Pella list or the marinas and dockage category. Compare maximum boat length, indoor storage, fuel and where repairs happen. Then put these questions to each marina:

  • What is the rate for my boat's length and beam, and what does it include?
  • Do slip dates follow April 15 to October 15, and can I extend?
  • How does the marina handle ramp closures when the lake is high?
  • Who does engine work, and who moves the boat to Saylorville Lake Marina?

Once you have answers from a few marinas, compare them side by side.
