Jacob was born into the South Florida marine industry. His father was a marine electrician at Broward Marine, one of Fort Lauderdale’s most storied boatyards, and Jacob spent summers through high school running wire through fiberglass hulls alongside the tradesmen Boatwork now serves.
He left the docks for a decade in the defense industry, building space and aviation technology. He then founded SailPlan, a deeptech maritime monitoring company whose systems shipped aboard cruise lines, the US Navy, and yacht exhaust manufacturers.
SailPlan showed him where the pressure in the marine economy sits: on the service base that keeps every vessel running. Boatwork is his answer, operated with AI from day one and built for the people he grew up working beside.
